Hey guys guess who didn’t write a Weekend Roundup yesterday?! THIS GIRL. RIGHT HERE. My weekend was kind of insane, but in the best possible way. I feel like some things in life can only be summed up with Parks and Rec gifs, so be prepared for a few of those in this post.
Our weekend was SO busy. This was literally me by the time we finally got home last night.
So needless to say, my Weekend Roundup didn’t go up as planned. So you’re getting it today, instead of a Mitten Monday post.
Friday I spent the afternoon with my hubby at his work. Two of his teams had games so I went to cheer them on. It was so stinking sunny and hot that Trev had given me an umbrella to sit under to try and escape some of the sun. Then all of a sudden, a huge rainstorm came out of no where and SOAKED everyone! Lucky for me, I had my umbrella up and stayed dry as a bone! Honestly though, no one really seemed to mind getting wet, because it was a nice little break from the crazy heat.
After the game we headed downstate to spend the weekend with Trev’s family. Friday evening was nice and relaxing. We grilled, enjoyed a sunset and caught some fireflies.
We were up super early on Saturday to head back over to Grand Rapids (about a three hour drive, one way) for a surprise 50th Anniversary Party. About a half hour from our destination the sky started turning pitch black. The rain was coming down so hard we could barely see and I’m not going to lie, I was a bit scared and just wanted to get to our destination. Before we knew it, our phones were beeping at us like crazy… a tornado had been spotted about a half hour away and was coming straight at us. Then, the warnings came across the radio to seek shelter immediately when we were 3 minutes from our destination. As soon as we pulled up to the house we SPRINTED inside and joined everyone in the basement. The tornado ended up touching down just 5 miles away from us. Everyone was kinda like…
The good news was… we pulled off the surprise party in the middle of the tornado! Trev’s Great Aunt and Uncle were so shocked! The bad news was I forgot my camera in the car, so I don’t have a single photo from the party. So I’ll let you enjoy an Andy Dwyer surprised face 🙂
We headed back to the east side of the state after only being there for a few hours because more storms were coming our way and we wanted to try to beat them out. By the time we made it home, we were exhausted and were ready to eat and head to bed.
The next morning we were up bright and early for a second surprise party! But this time we were helping to put it on. Trev’s Grandma turns 90 on Thursday, so his mom invited all her friends and family to the house to celebrate. We got a beautiful day to celebrate Trev’s sweet grandma. She was SO surprised! Look how cute she is!
We didn’t get home until super late last night, and I had to be up at 4 am to head North. I’ve gotten more miles on my butt these last few days than I have all summer! I get to stay in Manistee all week, getting everything prepped for the couples shower we are throwing for my cousin and his soon to be Mrs. this weekend! I’m so freaking excited I can hardly stand it!! I can’t wait to tell you all about it. But for now I’ve been told to keep my mouth shut… don’t want to ruin it for the happy couple!
I hope you’re all having a fantastic Monday! Tomorrow is my last post about Banff and I’m already so sad just thinking about writing it! Be sure to come back to see my final thoughts on the prettiest place I’ve ever been.
