The Best of Summer 2017

WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP! I have important information for all of you…

IT’S FREAKIN’ GAME DAYYYYY!

If you’ve been here awhile, y’all know I’m TB12’s biggest fan since I was in 8th grade. (Read my story about “meeting” him here!) I’m so stoked for another season of Patroits Football! But before we can officially close the door on summer and enjoy football and all other things fall… we have to do my annual Best of Summer post!

Guys. It seems so impossible to me that I’m sitting down today to write my final recap of Summer 2017! Like how in the heck did it go by so fast? It seems like we were on our 1st Anniversary trip, I blinked and BAM now it’s September. Our summer was busy, and way less eventful than Summer 2016, but it was still pretty dang amazing.

Ahhh June. One of my absolute favorite months of the year!

My June started off pretty dang sad. I had a long term sub job all year, that I absolutely loved. In June, I had to officially say goodbye to teaching computers and all my babies (K-8th graders) at OLGC. It was such an amazing experience. And I’m not going to lie… while I’m so excited to be starting a new adventure at a new school this year, I’m really going to miss being a part of the Crusader family.

Not my last day of school, obviously. I didn’t have a picture of that. So instead, here is a picture from our anniversary adventure!

Just after I finished up my time at OLGC, my parents and I headed up to the Upper Peninsula for a fun mini vacation before heading to Marquette to see my cousin graduate from High School. We did SO many fun things while we were there! We saw waterfalls, hiked, checked out the Pictured Rocks and ate some really amazing food! Trev finished his school year in June too. His athletes all finished out their seasons strong, and he was happy to get in a little bit of a break before his summer sessions got started.

My favorite thing about Trev’s athletes being done for the summer is that he gets home from work earlier and we get to spend more time together!

Speaking of Trev, he turned the big 2-9! It’s his last year of his 20s. Let’s hope we can make it a good one.

Because 29 year olds have chicken wings and beer instead of cake 🙂

On June 17th, we celebrated our first anniversary! We had the BEST time at The Homestead. You can read all about our anniversary trip here and see our First Anniversary Photoshoot here.

Eating our cake One Year later!

And we FINALLY crossed off a big item on both our bucket list’s… we made the trip to Short’s Brewing Company!

We also started summer jobs in June at Comerica Park! I was super unsure about this, but I’m SO glad we did it! In fact, I hope to do it next summer too. I don’t want to say TOO much just yet, because we still have a few home games left before we’re done for the year. But one week from today, I’m going to be sharing all my secrets of working with the Tigers! It’s going to be hilarious, I promise. So be sure to subscribe to get it in your inbox next week, the second it’s posted!

The calm before the game.

July was our month of relaxation.

We headed North for the Fourth and had the best time celebrating with my family! We had bbqs, watched the fireworks, watched parades and ate elephant ears at the carnival.

It’s not Fourth of July weekend if you don’t eat an elephant ear!

We also did a few fun DIY projects in July. However, our favorite was our new shelf! I told Trev what I had hoped to make and he made my vision a reality. Two months later and we are still loving our shelf! It’s inspired more changes in our living room. We’re in this weird transition stage between first apartment decor and decor we want in our house right now. But thanks to our pretty new shelf, I at least have SOMETHING gorgeous to look at every day when I walk through our front door! Check out this super awesome, super inexpensive (Less than $25!!!) DIY here!

You can’t tell just how big our shelf is in this picture! That canvas is 20×30 and the shelf is almost as long as our couch!

We worked TWO special events while at Comerica in July. One was a professional soccer game. The other? A Metallica concert! I personally don’t care for Metallica but Trev was stoked. I mean, how many people can say they got paid to stand on the field at Metallica?!

I saw the concert from above. People were loving it!

We celebrated Christmas in July.

How cute is my little sand-snowman?!

And I made a few trips alone Up North to spend some time with my family. (Trev unfortunately had to work.)

While I was home with my family we did everything I love to do. Beach days, rock hunting, watching sunsets and river walking.

Before we knew it, August was here. Our summer went by so dang fast! We did the best we could to make the most of what was left of our summer. But August was a crazy busy month for us!

We ate our favorite summery foods. (AKA ICE CREAM)

It’s not summer if you don’t get Moomers at least once!

I got asked to partner with Shutterfly for a super fun blog post! You can check it out here!

We spent a lot of time in Blissfield with Trevor’s family. (Almost every weekend in August!)

Celebrating in Greektown!

And we celebrated the un-official end of summer during Labor Day Weekend.

And now… it’s officially time for me to say goodbye to Summer 2017. You were so so so good to us, and we sure will miss you!

That being said… is it too early to start putting out my fall decor?!

Guys. This is the first weekend in AGES that we are just sitting at home with nothing to do. No where to go. No work. No nothing but relaxing. I seriously can’t wait! I’m finishing up my first week at my new job tomorrow and then it’s TGIF.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend ahead of you! I’ll be back on Sunday with a weekend round up.

Xx.
