Capturing Your Travels: My Favorite Equipment of the Moment

Eeeeek! Guys! It’s Tuesday! You know what that means?! The Bachelor Winter Games starts tonight AND it’s time for another Travel Post here on the blog! Oh! And it’s Fat Tuesday! So… fill up on paczki 🙂

Today is the final installment in my Capturing Your Travels Series! I’ve shared 10 Tips for Picture Perfect Memories5 Tips for Oscar Worthy Vacation Videos + How to Edit ThemHow To Edit Travel Photos, and How To Capture Your Trip on Social Media. But all of these Tips and Tricks and How To’s won’t really help you if I don’t share with you my favorite equipment that I use!

But before we even get started… keep in mind that photography/videography is not a cheap hobby. Not only is a good quality camera expensive, there is always a newer model right around the corner. It’s important to remember that the equipment you already have might not be bad quality. (Unless it’s 10+ Years Old!) So check out your tech at home before you go and purchase something new!

That being said… the equipment I have isn’t all brand new. I’ve had it a couple of years. But it still takes stellar photos and videos. Below, I’m linking everything I love to take on my trips with me to help me in Capturing My Travels. (You see what I did there? So clever. I know.)

Nikon DSLRs

A DSLR is the HOLY GRAIL of cameras. It’s the one that gives you the crispest, highest quality photos, and if you can stomach the hefty price tag, I promise you that you will never regret this purchase. Another great thing about DSLR cameras is that it doesn’t really matter how old the base is, as long as you’re purchasing new lens for it. It’s the lens that are going to take your pictures to the next level! 95% of my photos are taken with this camera, but like I mentioned earlier, this is an “old version”. You can find the newer version of this camera here! And if you’re looking for something a bit more advanced, go ahead and order the D7100. You won’t regret it! (Also feel free to order me one while you’re at it. HAHA Find the D7100 here!)

Lenses

Like I said above… your camera is really all about the lenses. More than any other component of your camera, the lens is what determines the quality of the image you capture. My favorite lens lately is the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm . My mom got it for Christmas and you guys… the images it captures are SO CLEAR it practically jumps off the computer at you. I highly, highly, highly recommend it! Another great lens to have in your pocket is this Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm. It’s perfect for those shots of far away things that you just want to see a bit (or a lot!) closer up! And for sports photography/photography with a lot of movement, look nor further than the Tamron AF 70-300mm.

Point and Shoot

I absolutely love my little Panasonic Lumix Point and Shoot camera! This baby takes seriously beautiful photos and is so easy to use! Plus, since I’m not changing our lenses, it’s a lot easier for me to travel with. This is the camera that I took to Banff with my and captured all our photos on. It’s really great and a way more affordable option than a DSLR. Find my favorite travel companion here!

GoPro + Accessories

We couldn’t live without our GoPro. In fact, we honestly don’t remember how we ever traveled without it. GoPros are perfect for your adventures, because you can just strap it on and go. No need to worry if it get’s wet, if you’ve got the right lens or if you’re holding it at the right angle. You can control it through your Smart Phone and review all your footage right there in the app. (One of my favorite features, because then I know if I need to reshoot or not!) They’re virtually indestructible and I’m telling you rn, will become your favorite piece of equipment you own in no time! Having just the GoPro is fine, but it’s the accessories you can buy that make the GoPro as amazing as it is. From waterproof cases to chest straps and everything in between, you’ll have everything you need to perfectly capture your next adventure below!

GoPro HERO6 Black
(This is the newest model. Honestly, they’re all going to be amazing! So save a few bucks and get an “older” edition. You will still love it!!!)

GoPro Chesty

GoPro Headstrap Mount + Quick Clip

GoPro 3-Way Grip, Arm, Tripod

Kupton Housing Case

GoPro Dual Battery Charger + Battery

SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDXC

Sportmans Mount

Sametop Jaws Flex Clamp Mount

Camera Accessories

Because if you’ve spent all the money on DSLRs, point and shoots, lenses and GoPros, you might as well go all out and buy some accessories too! Like Pimp My Ride… just Pimp My Camera Bag. (HAHAHA Don’t worry I’m here all night.)

AmazonBasics 60-Inch Lightweight Tripod with Bag

A Cute and Comfy Camera Strap

Camera Bag
(I bought this one on a whim before going to San Antonio a few years back. It was PERFECT for my little Panasonic but would be way too small for your DSLR + Lenses. If you’re wanting something where you can carry everything around with you, I’d pick a bit bag like this one from Amazon Basics.)

So what do you use to Capture Your Travels? Share your favorite Cameras, Lenses and Accessories below! I’m always looking to add to my “collection” 🙂

No new post tomorrow… it’s Valentine’s Day! We’ll be snuggled up on the couch after work with subs and our favorite TV shows. I’ll be bringing you my #WhatUpWednesday on Thursday instead! I’ll talk to everyone then!

Xx.

PS… You guys. Did you see Chloe Kim kill it on the Half Pipe?! I was so freakin’ pumped for her. And her dad… THE CUTEST!
