Hey Hey Happy Travel Tuesday everyone! I’m super excited to be back this week with ANOTHER” Most Instagram Worthy Spots” post! Today, we’re staying close to home (at least for me) and talking about of the best hidden gems in all of the Midwest… The Hocking Hills!
The Hocking Hills is one of the most recent travel series you’ll find here on Savannah Said It, making it’s first appearance last October. And if you haven’t been reading my blog since them, I’m sure you’re thinking “what the heck are the Hocking Hills?!” Well…. let me introduce you. You’re going to be SO glad I did!
Contrary to popular belief the Midwest is much more than cornfields filled with pop-drinking, cheese loving, too friendly humans. The Midwest is chalk full of vast lakes, lush forests and just about everything you could need for amazing outdoor adventures.
And while 95% of my favorite things about the Midwest hail from my beloved home state (check out my Mitten Monday posts here), I know that the rest of the Midwest is pretty great too. I mean… we don’t say “Midwest is Best” for nothing 🙂
Deep in forests of South East Ohio, you can find deep gorges, fairytale like bridges, sparkling waterfalls, vast caves, and miles and miles of trails to explore. Today, I put aside my Michigan roots, and my v. strong dislike for OSU and everything “Buckeye” to sing Ohio’s praises (probably the only time ever), and bring you one of the Midwest’s best kept secrets… The Hocking Hills.
So, if you’re hoping to bring some fairy tale whimsy, some nature, or just some really pretty places to your Insta feed, The Hocking Hills is the place for you!
So, without further ado, here are my…
5 Most Instagram Worthy Spots in The Hocking Hills
Rock House. TBH this is probably my favorite spot in ALL of The Hocking Hills! (Okay… maybe it’s tied with Old Man’s Cave.) Rock House was the first spot I ever saw in the area, and guys… it’s SO COOL. I love this spot because the short hike back offers you the perfect taste of what you’ll find all throughout the hocking hills, and the whole hike is totally ‘Gram worthy. Then, once you get to the Rock House, if you’re super patient, you can get some pretty stellar, silhouette photos for your Instagram’s too.
Old Man’s Cave. Okay, so I lied before. Old Man’s Cave is probably my favorite place in The Hocking Hills. Old Man’s Cave literally looks like it used to be inhabited by all your favorite Fairy Tale characters, but then they packed up and moved away and all that was left was their pretty bridges. (Too much? I spend too much time with 5 year olds.) This place is easily the most popular spot in the park. And it’s no doubt because the stunning cliffs, caves, waterfalls, bridges and trees that call this area of the park home. No matter what type of photo you’re hoping to take, you’ll be able to get it here, that I can promise you!
Conkles Hollow Gorge. If you’ve ever wanted to feellike you’re on a different planet, without having to blast off into space, Conkles Hollow is the place for you. You’ll feel like you’re on Pandora… or at least in the spot where all the little rock trolls live on Frozen. (Again… I spend too much time with 5 year olds.) The big rocks, lush forests and and paths are the perfect backdrop for all your Instas!
Cedar Falls. Cedar Falls is one of the most visited spots in the park, and it’s super pretty! (Especially if you don’t visit in the Fall like we do.) It’s also the perfect spot for that TLC lyric I know all you 90s Babies are dying to use.
Ziplining. One of the biggest adventures you can take in The Hocking Hills is Ziplining! I love a good #adventuretime post for Instagram, and I guarantee you can get a pretty great shot! (Especially if you have someone below you taking photos!)
So my friends, have you ever visited The Hocking Hills?! Where are you favorite spots to snap a photo?

Alright my loves. I’m off to clean the house and get to bed. My sinus’ HATE me this week and I feel like I’m working twice as hard to breath. It’s exhausting!
Have a fantastic Tuesday everyone! I’ll be back tomorrow for another #WhatUpWednesday!
