For me, Fall is the start of all things cozy. And Thanksgiving? It’s literally the epitome of Fall and all it’s cozy feelings. It’s literally a holiday where we snuggled in with the ones we love most, eat tons of food, and are thankful for the people in our lives and the things we are lucky enough to have.
Thanksgiving in my little part of this world isn’t about what you’re wearing, it’s about who you’re with. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to dress the part! I tend to forget to pick our an outfit for Thanksgiving. I usually skip right to what I’m going to wear to Holiday parties and events. Which means I’m usually standing over my suitcase the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving wondering WTF AM I SUPPOSED TO WEAR?! (Anyone else?!)
Well, have no fear all you last minute planners like me, I’ve found out that I can put together cute and stylish outfits that are still comfy, cozy and stretchy (stretchy is key on Thanksgiving!) with things I already have in my closet and a quick trip to Target. (Why Target? Because it’s easily accessible to you no matter where you are. Whether you’re on your way to the airport, in the car on the way home, or need to run there while you’re packing, you can grab something cute and affordable should you need to!)
For all these outfit options, I’ve linked mine exact outfits, but if you’re not close to a Nordstrom (where I buy most of my clothes) , you can pick up similar pieces at Target, if you don’t already have them in your closet.
For the Cozy Thanksgiving
Cardigan + Oversize Flannel + Jeans + Comfy Shoes
For those of you that have a cozy Thanksgiving dinner with your family at Grandma’s house, you can go wrong with a snuggly sweater and leggings or jeans. I’m a big fan of casual Thanksgiving outfits, like this one. Here I’ve paired it with this cozy cardigan with my all time favorite oversize flannel (I have it in a billion different colors) jeans and Converse.
For The Dressier Thanksgiving
Sweater Dress + Cozy Layer + Cute Shoes
I know some people go ALL OUT with fancy Thanksgiving dinners and fancy outfits. I personally have never attended a Thanksgiving dinner like this. So even when I “dress up” I still keep it totally casual and cozy. To look a little bit more put together, but still feel really comfortable, I usually opt for a sweater dress. A sweater dress can be dressed up or down depending on how you style it! Here, I’ve styled it with my favorite oversize plaid (again) tied around my waist and my Converse. (They were my favorite shoes this Fall!) This outfit is chill AF and easily thrown together, but I look like I put some effort into my outfit (even though I didn’t.) If I wanted to dress it up, I’d swap the plaid for a chunky cardigan and the converse for cute boots.
For The Thanksgiving When You Have ZERO Idea What To Wear
Jeans + Sweater + Dressy Coat
Heading to spend Thanksgiving with your new boyfriend and his family and you have no idea what to wear and he’s less than helpful? You know, he’s all “I dunno something nice.” when you ask him how to dress? (My husband for every event we ever go to.)
When you have no clue what to wear, layers are the key! I like to wear jeans and a sweater plus a super cute coat (I’ve been to plenty of Thanksgivings that were outside). This way, I’m prepared for any situation. And if I get too hot or too cold, I can add or take off a layer. You have no ideas how many times I’ve been so thankful to be able to pull out a super cute coat like the one above! Also, cute shoes always help to pull an outfit together 🙂 Oh, and PS… I probably would stay away from ripped jeans when you go to a gathering you’re not sure about. Dark wash jeans would be a better choice!
For Thanksgiving With Your Parents
Leggings + Your Favorite Shirt + Slippers
We’ve been having a Thanksgiving Dinner with just my parents the last couple of years before we head to the rest of our familie’s homes. This is the best kind Of Thanksgiving dinner because I’m completely comfortable to just be me.
I like to roll up to the table in my favorite pair of leggings, one of my many T-shirt’s or hoodies and my favorite slippers. There is no better way to eat Thanksgiving Dinner.
Still not sure what you want to wear this Thanksgiving? Check out a few of my Fall and Thanksgiving outfits in the past for a little more inspiration.
