Ahhh Winter. The one season I’m never sad to see leave. And while I’m sitting here writing this, the snow is coming down in BIG fluffy flakes, I’m looking forward to Spring. I LOVE Spring. With Spring comes new beginnings, better weather and better spirits in general. And while we technically still have a few more days of winter, I’m already waving goodbye!
As every season comes to an end, I like to do a “Best of” to help me remember what that season of our lives looked like. For me, this blog isn’t just to share my thoughts with the world, but it’s also a way for me to log my memories. Almost like a digital scrapbook! Every time I sit to write one of these posts, I get all nostalgic and look back at where I was in that particular season a year before. It’s so nice to see how far I’ve come and how everything is so different, but also so much is the same.
This winter seemed to last FOR ‘FREAKIN EVER. Like, December seems like such a lifetime ago! Let’s see if I can dig wayyyy back into my memories for this one!
December was, as always, the best month of the winter! It was a giant mush of Christmas fun.
December started with Sleighbell Weekend! It’s my absolute favorite parade in my hometown/ We drank hot cocoa, tried chestnuts (again) and got in the Christmas spirit.
We decorated our apartment for Christmas and made Christmas Cookies.
We sent our annual Christmas Card.
We saw our favorite podcast LIVE for the second time! This time I wasn’t sick, and we got to meet them.
We went ice skating.
We cozied up at our favorite pubs.
We practiced our awesome bowling skills.
We headed Up North to celebrate Christmas with my family.
And to Blissfield to celebrate Christmas with Trev’s family.
We rounded out the year by celebrating EIGHT New Years Eves together, snuggled up at home.
It was the perfect end to 2018! And in the blink of an eye, it was January!
January brought us lots of Date Days…
and lots of Basketball Games.
We spent time exploring our city.
And tried our best to keep up with our New Years Resolutions.
Oh. And we tried to Marie Kondo our lives. That was a #blast.
And after what seemed like FOREVER, we made it through January.
February started out in the best way possible… The Pats won the Super Bowl!
We also got to celebrate my cousin’s new wife in the most perfect tropical bridal shower! (PS… you’re finally going to get a tutorial on this easy balloon arch this week!)
But then, February took a turn for a the worse. We got the news that Trev’s grandpa was in the hospital so we rushed to Grayling. We thought he was making a good recovery though, so we were able to spend some time enjoying the rest of the weekend with Trev’s entire family.
Two days later we found out his cancer had spread everywhere he wasn’t going to live much longer. So the following weekend we headed back to Grayling to spend a little bit more time with Papa. He passed away a few days later.
In the midst of all the sadness, Trev still made me feel so special of Valentine’s Day.
We celebrated national Margarita Day.
And we watched more basketball.
And got some much needed rest.
February felt like a never ending month that was honestly, clouded in sadness. We were so relieved when it finally rolled over to March.
So far, March has been a much happier month! It’s been filled with basketball…
And Breakfast dates.
Our last few months have been a whirlwind. Life has been full of ups and downs for us so far this year. Bring on the sunshine, flowers and warmer weather. Spring is officially (almost) here!
