Hi Loves! Sooooo this post is going up a few days later than I had planned. But who cares… because SURPRISE! It’s not a #WhatUpWednesday, it’s a Fall Home Tour!
Today we’re talking about my all time favorite word… COZY. I love everything that cozy is and stands for. Just hearing the word cozy has me envisioning my favorite blanket, a roaring fire, a cup of steaming cider, my family, and happy memories at my parents and grandparents homes. Every year as the weather starts to get colder, my desire to turn my surroundings into the ultimate cozy space grows.
When we first moved into our home, I told Trevor I wanted it to feel cozy all year… not just at the holidays. I worked hard to choose colors that I felt created cozy vibes, and create spaces that made me want to do nothing but curl up and snuggle. And now, that the weather has officially dropped below 70 degrees, there is nothing I want more than to create a cozy vibe for everyone that steps into our home this Fall.
Last year, I liked my fall decor, but I wasn’t obsessed with it. I liked that our home felt festive and cozy, but I just didn’t love my decor. I made mental notes of the things I loved last year, and the things I wanted to change. And I can happily say that this year… I love my Fall decor!
I tried really hard to curate a collection of items that felt like old, nostalgic, lived in memories. Using a mix of old and new decor and special pieces passed down from family members, I feel like we’ve managed to create the coziest space for us to enjoy this Fall.
Oh… and I barely bought anything new this year… so yay me!
So today, I’m opening my doors to you! Come on in and check out our Fall 2021 decor. If you were here in person, I’d give you a big hug, hand you an apple cider whiskey slush (it’s my new favorite Fall drink), and make you watch Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown with me! I hope my decor inspires you to create some cozy vibes in your own home! Or least to want to drink some cider and go leaf peeping!
Let’s start off in our entryway! In a completely uncharacteristic choice for me, I decided less is more in our entryway this year. I have finally gotten to decorate our porch for Fall and didn’t want it to feel like too much right off the bat as you walk into our home. You’ll see that most of our decor has stayed the same here, because I felt like it was perfect last year. I picked up the textured vase last year at Joann’s. It’s huge and just as pretty in person as it is in photos! (Target has a similar one this year!) I fell in love with it online and snagged it when it was 60% off. I filled it with this dried eucalyptus from Hobby Lobby. It smells SO GOOD. Seriously. Every time I walk by I stop to smell it… Trev too! I loved it so much that I actually picked up a second bundle of it this weekend while I was at Hobby Lobby and it was the last one. Not sure what I’ll do with it yet… but I’m happy to have it when I need it! I also switched out my usual Hearth and Hand tin candle with this cutie from the Target Dollar Spot this year. (It totally doesn’t look like a dollar spot candle!)
Now, let’s head to the living room! Typically, I don’t put a lot of decor in our living room. This is because there isn’t much space that we don’t use all the time. But this year, I had a new shelf to decorate! I was so excited! Trev made me this shelf earlier last year, because I felt like the corner above our giant chair felt too bare. I love that I get to use it now to add extra special touches of holiday decor now!
I decided to keep this shelf simple, with a few of my favorite fall photos alongside some amber glass and fall foliage! To make these photos feel extra cozy, I used an app to turn them into oil paintings. This is the cheapest, simplest hack to bring extra cozy vibes into your home! It barely cost me anything. The app I used (I used this one but there are a ton out there!) allowed me to edit my photos and save them. Then I simply uploaded and printed at Walgreens where I used a code to get half off my prints! I threw them in frames I typically put away for the cozy season months and boom. Cheap artwork that I love!
My large amber glass vase was from the Target Dollar Spot a few years back, but this one is really similar. My golden Aspen stems are from Joanna Gaines’ Fall collection at Target last year and I love them SO much! I bought them in all the sizes to use throughout my house and I’m so happy I did. My frames are all these frames from Michael’s. (They are the same frames I use throughout my entire house… and they are on sale right now!) The fabric pumpkins are from Target Dollar Spot a few years ago, the basket was a summer find at 5 Below this year, and the candle sticks I pulled out of my Christmas decor stash! (Taper candles were from Joann’s last year.)
I just love how it cozies up the wall behind our giant chair! (Which we love so much!)
I kept the same festive pillows on our couch as last year but also kept out favorite pillows that sit on our couch in the spring and summer! They are technically pillows for the bedroom but they are soooo comfy and the perfect rusty color to add to our fall decor! I got them from Target earlier this year from the Casaluna collection. My Fall pillows are all from Marshall’s a few years ago. The orange blanket is also a Target find from last year. (This one is super similar!)
This is my favorite place to sit in my entire house. You’ll find me here 98% of the time I’m at home watching…
You guessed it. Halloweentown! Yes, I’m a #BasicWhiteGirl when it comes to my Rae Dunn mugs. And no. I don’t care. I love them! My beautiful tray was an anniversary gift from my husband (check out his woodworking page here and here). The pumpkin is from Target Dollar Spot a few years ago, my mule mug was stolen from our bar, and the picks are from Joann’s last year. The vintage book was a book sale find and the little brown bowl (that’s filled with Caramel Apple Werther’s) is from Target.
I also added the worlds cutest garland to my fall decor this year! I found it at a market in Ludington on my last trip home. When I saw it, I knew I couldn’t leave without it. It’s just too cute! You could honestly probably make this super easily if you’re feeling inspired!
Now, let’s move into dining room! This is one of my favorite views of our house! I love that you can see into our cozy den from our eat-in kitchen. (I like to call it my dining room though… it feels fancier!)
I completely changed up my table centerpiece from last year. This year I kept the same centerpiece I keep year round, just switching out flowers for dried florals and fresh fruit for dried gourds. I found my dried florals at Home Goods and love how they smell! The dried gourds are from an Etsy shop and I’m kind of obsessed with them.
I don’t keep much decor in my kitchen, simply because it’s not very big and we need every ounce of space we can get. I don’t change up my shelves because I love my cutting boards and the framed, handwritten copy of my grandma’s bread recipe. I bring a little bit of fall in with my hand towels, candy dish and vintage cookbooks on my cookbook stand.
And now, on to the den!
Not the best photo of my den… but it still looks cozy AF!
I decided to switch up my mantle this year and make it a little less “in your face” fall. I used my faux oil paintings, dried greenery and different textures to bring some warmth and depth to the focal point of this room.
I really love how my mantle turned out this year!
I put the same pillows and throw out as I did last year because I loved them so much! I didn’t snap a new photo of them, so here is a close up from last year! The pretty pillows and throw you see are also new! My pillows are from Target last year and they are SO pretty in person! I’m so happy I bought them. They are amazing quality and super soft and just look so perfect in our den. The throw is from Joann’s last year. I picked it up when it was on sale for $10. The brown has a reddish undertone that matches with our pillows perfectly.
On our table is the cutest little tray that I found at Dollar General last year. Can you believe it was only $5?! I’m still a bit mind blown by that! I’ve styled it with a few random things I pulled out of my Fall decor box, like a Target Dollar Spot pumpkin, a jug with some floral picks and a bowl of maple pecan scented pine cones.
And in case you’re wondering what my house smells like this year. It’s Fall Farmhouse! I bought this candle without smelling it and I LOVE IT SO MUCH!
Ugh. I wish I could have you all over for real-skees. Maybe next year…
How have you decorated for Fall?! Are you decorating in a certain style or theme? Or are you like me and just throwing memories anywhere and everywhere along with some leaves and lots of pumpkins? Do you skip decorating for Fall all together? Or go all out for Halloween? Let me know in the comments below! I’m nosey 🙂
Alright my loves. I’m signing off for the evening. But I’ll be back with a special post tomorrow! I’ll see you then!
