Another day… another blog post. Happy Wednesday my Loves!
I’m back at it again (with the white vans) and wedding registries. You can find The Only Kitchen Registry You’ll Ever Need here, and The Only Bathroom Registry You’ll Ever Need here. And today? We’re moving to the best room in the entire house… The Bedroom! (And no. Don’t be gross. The internet has ruined you!)
The bedroom is the best room in the house because it home to my bed. And my bed and I are absolute BFFs.
Now, if you read my other registry posts, you can skip these next two paragraphs.
The hardest part about registering for anything really was the insane amount of lists out there telling us what we needed to register for. Just typing in “Wedding Registry Checklist” on Pinterest gives you enough results that it would take you a solid year to get through each one. (Oh… if you’re here from Pinterest HIIII! I’m glad you found your way to Savannah Said It!)
Honestly, each list was a little bit different. We’d find one that seemed perfect, but then the next completely contradicted everything the first one said. One said we absolutely HAD to have a garlic press, the next? It wasn’t even on the “maybe” list. So, ever since we registered, I’ve been working my brain. I’ve been keeping notes of the things we really needed, the best registry advice we’ve gotten, and the things we didn’t register for that we really wished we had. It’s my goal in the series to make an easy list for you to follow, that is comprehensive and easy. And so, without further ado, I bring you…
The Only Bedroom Registry You’ll Ever Need
Do you want to know the number one thing I’ve learned from being married for almost a year now? Movie nights snuggled in bed on the weekend are way better than being in a bar with 1,000 of your closest friends is. And going to bed early is always a good idea. Which is why I’m going to give you the best piece of advice you’ll ever get…
REGISTER FOR THE EXPENSIVE SHEETS. Seriously. Once you go to a higher thread count, you’ll never be able to go back!
Registering for your bedroom is pretty dang easy. You could register for only a few sets of sheets, or you could register for an entire new bedroom to be your escape from every day life. But personally, there are a few things that I think are necessary when registering for your bedroom.
Sheets I said it before and I’ll say it again. Register for some really good sheets. And don’t just register for one set. Pick multiple! People will buy them, and you’ll them. Before you register, head to the store to feel them. This is the one thing I wouldn’t register for without touching. You’re going to be sleeping in them, so you want to make sure you like how they feel. Be sure to touch different thread counts so you can find the one that you like best. (If you’re really not sure, people usually say 400-500 thread counts are a happy medium on the thread count spectrum!)
Duvet Get yourselves a nice duvet. Personally, I LOVE a good down comforter but those aren’t for everyone. I also highly recommend heading to the store and actually touching these before you make your final decision. I can tell you, that if you’re looking for something lightweight and not too puffy, you should check out this one from Target. Trev doesn’t like anything to heavy, so we settled on this and absolutely love it. Plus it’s crazy affordable!
Duvet Cover If you get a duvet, you have to get a duvet cover too! (I feel like I’m writing the adult version of If You Give A Mouse A Cookie. HAHA) Not sure what look you’re going for in your house someday? Choose a solid color. Personally, I don’t think you could ever go wrong with white!
Pillows Ahhhh pillows. Good pillows will CHANGE YOUR LIFE. They, just like good sheets, are totally worth whatever amount of money they’re asking you to fork out. Head to your local Bed Bath and Beyond and lay your head on every single pillow you can. Then register for multiple pillows, and hope for duplicates 🙂
Bed Skirt Just do it. It’s always good to have an extra. Because chances are your new husband will rip the one you already have and then you’ll always forget to buy a new one at the store and everyone will be able to see the mess underneath your bed. (Not speaking from experience or anything…)
Mattress Topper We have a pillow top mattress so we didn’t register for one of these. However, if you’re looking for a little extra comfort (whether you want softness, warmth, or cooling) a mattress pad is an easy way to make your mattress better for you.
Blankets You can never have enough blankets in my opinion. You can always use them to snuggle up in on chilly winter days, and guests always like having extra blankets around. Okay, it’s time to let you in a on little secret. Trevor and I have what we like to call “adult blankies”. Every year for Christmas, his mom buys us all the most AMAZINGLY SOFT fleece blankets from Kohls and we seriously can’t sleep without them. They aren’t fancy decorative ones that you keep up, but they are the ones that you can’t live without. If you’re registering at Kohls, register for at least 50 of them 🙂 And if you’re not… they are on sale right now for $19.00 so go buy 50 of them and thank me later.
Now, keep in mind that if you’re registering for both a Master bedroom and a Guest bedroom, you might need to double up on a few things. You may also want to add a few decorative pillow to the mix. (Or 12 if you’re anything like me!)
And don’t forget bedroom furniture and decor if your in need of that too!
Alright friends. Going to be totally upfront and let you know that I might not get a post up tomorrow night. We have a lot of errands to run and packing to do before we head back Up North bright and early Friday morning. However, if I don’t get one up tomorrow, I’ll hopefully get one up for you on Friday! So be on the lookout for a post.
Have a great Wednesday everyone!
PS… OMG How fantastic was the Dancing with the Stars finale last night?! I was so pumped Rashad and Emma won! I’ve been pulling for them (and David and Lindsay) since Night One. Their reaction made me SOB this morning. It was so bad I had to fix my make up. HAHA
